Having hard time in Terminal trying to figure out .tar.bz2. Anyone know of a getdeb equivalent or whether synaptic plans on publishing the update?

Vuze is in synaptic. Not sure what your title means vuze update what are you trying to do?install or get the latest version.

Update from 4.2 to 4.3...Synaptic doesn't have the update it only has 4.2.

There is a deb on this site use at your own risk.
If it was me I would use deluge and get it from here.
https://launchpad.net/~deluge-team/+archive/ppa
Deluge is generally a better torrent it encrypts both ways and you can get the latest from a trusted PPA.
