I have been having very slow boot ups. I was at 3:21, then I killed off usplash (sudo apt-get remove usplash) as suggested in another thread and it is down to 1:08.
On top of that GRUB is painfully slow on starting up as well. I'm thinking the two are separate as it takes over a minute to get from "grub loading" to the load up screen.
anyway I've attached my bootchart so if anyone has any ideas they will be appreciated.
I've just come back to Linux after getting beyond fed up with it a few years back. Maybe this time I'll be luckier?
On a happy note, shut down is about 6 sec
