Menu with open items ? (upgraded)

Hello. I've recently upgraded from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS today.

I used to have a lower/bottom part of my screen, to show what documents/programmes i have open, & now on 12.4 - this has dissapeared. (I forget the name of it).

Do you know what its called (so i can google it), and/or how to set up.

I do have a menu on the left, but it shows all sorts of programmes - even if i havn't got them open..)

It was called "Window List" (shows running apps in panel) or "Window Selector" (shows running apps in a panel menu).
