Nautilus crashing when browsing windows share

Hi

I have a small problem when browsing a windows share, sometime nautilus will crash whilst I am browsing or deleting files on my windows share.

What happens is that nautilus will simply vanish, but it also takes down all other instances of nautilus with it, and all my desktop icons disappear also.

This makes it behave alarmingly like a windows explorer crash

It does recover, but I have to say it is rather inconvenient.

Anyone else have the problem, or even better anyone have a solution?

I've experienced this kind of behavior--desktop icons and wallpaper disappearing--but I haven't been able to accurately identify the cause. However, to the best of my knowledge the other nautilus windows have remained.

I've also experienced some possibly related issues with nautilus and/or removable media: after using brasero to copy a DVD to an image, the media icon disappears from the deskop and I suspect from the /media directory, as well. Need to continue to explore to confirm, but I'm fairly certain.

I have applied all updates up to 16/12/09 and this still happens.

New info
It only happens when I delete multiple files through nautilus, normal browsing is ok and it doesn't matter if the file is on the local machine, an external USB drive, or a windows share.
