So, a few things... maybe someone knows how to do any of these?

    • Right clicking...? sometimes you have to right click and i have no idea how right now...
    • Tap to click? Someone suggested synaptics install for that pref pane... then someone said NOT to do that... anyone else?
    • Two finger taps? Like Macs?

Other than those things, its working great, but the tap to click and right click blows...

I haven't been active for a while, too busy with exams, homework, etc…

For right clicking there are two ways:
    • Put two fingers on your trackpad and click with both.
    • Put two fingers on your trackpad and click with your thumb on the lower section.

    I hope that helps

I installed this on my MacBook Pro 5,1 running Lucid. I'd like to uninstall and revert back to the default driver and Trackpad configuration utility. How do I accomplish this?

    Thanks!

Try removing what you added to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restart. I'm not completely sure, but I think that's it.

    Hey guys!

Any news on the first beta? Was supposed to be released yesterday Or is it already on the git? Thanks!

    Multitouch X Driver v1.0-beta1 Released

One day late, but here it is. The feature some of you have been waiting for is there; tapping. Tap-to-click and tap-and-hold to drag are included, turned on by default for touch screens without a left button. To use it also for trackpads, flip the switch in memory.c.

The bulk of the changes, however, is not features but a refactoring to support the coming addition to the MT protocol, the event slots. Parsing the kernel events is now fairly well abstracted into a conversion layer, which should work for all kernel drivers out there.

Apart from packaging and a parameter interface, which seems to have been picked up by others in this thread, the driver is now a fairly complete MT replacement for synaptics. Therefore, the next release will be the first release candidate, scheduled for 20JUL2010.

    Enjoy!

How can we get this to replace the default synaptics package in the Lucid install. As I understand it, Lucid reads hardware config during the install (and determines if it is a MacBook) so this has go to be possible.

hi, I've got one issue when i try to get the files from the git repos, my question could be stupid and I don't want to bother you but I could'nt find any solution at the moment.
    when trying this:

    i get this:

Initialized empty Git repository in /home/quentin/multitouch/.git/
    error: Failed connect to bitmath.org:80; No such file or directory (curl_result = 7, http_code = 0, sha1 = e1e27bf0a55f3cd7ac5ed808cf711617c2fbb2c4)

    while processing commit 523d193b089111849873d9de0ec1bf29f4176fbc.

hope you can help me, and one more time, sorry if the answer is obvious.

The second problem is solvable by removing the synaptics driver in the configuration, but the first problem does not currently have a solution. You will get as far as clicking the buttons, but moving the cursor will not work.

Regarding the xinput ABI, it seems you are running version 9, I suppose you have extra multitouch ubuntu packages loaded. Those are not needed here, and presumably needs some additional tweaking in the driver code. Will investigate.
Any news on the support for my trackpad? I really miss the multitouch support in linux

EDIT: I get the following error when compiling with make:

    Code:

                     from mtdev/caps.c:22:
include/abs2mt.h:19: error: ‘MT_ABS_SIZE’ undeclared here (not in a function)
    make: *** [obj/mtdev/caps.o] Error 1
