    Fan on high on laptop

I just installed Ubuntu last night as a dual boot on my laptop. Everything works perfect but the fan inside runs on high 100% of the time. When I load windows, I can't even hear it. Any theories as to why?

Make sure you check your processing usage. Your fan might be load for a reason. If that's the case you need to see what process/processes are running that is using all your processing power.

Sorry to say this, but 11.10, due primarily to Unity, places a lot more demand on resources than previous Ubuntu versions, causing it to run hotter.

That, coupled with reported bugs in its inability to properly handle CPU scaling, tend to make it run really hot on some PCs.
