Exclamation 2 important issues with Acer aspire 5739 (acpi and microphone)

Hello everyone. I have been using Ubuntu on and off for the last couple of years and I am generally satisfied. Now with the release of 9.10 I feel that I would like to completly migrate over to it. However certain issues have turned up that were not there when I tried 9.04.

    1) All forms of networking are by default impossible to use. However there is a temporary fix by adding an ACPI off command into grub, as can be seen in this thread http://georgia.ubuntuforums.org/show....php?t=1305190. Unfortunately I am a person that is on the move often and I need to monitor battery capacity as well as use the processorscaling funcitions of my computer.

    2) No sound input works. I have no idea how this happened.

Please help me out here, I really looked forward to migrating.

    Thanks guys

Thanks for the link, but it is related to very different acer models. However I checked it out anyway, but I couldn't find anything useful for solving my problems (which are also those of the people in the thread i linked to in my original post). No more suggestions?
