Question Few simple questions on gnome

    Hello there,

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 after using kubuntu 8.10/9.04
(reason to change was that people claim that ubuntu works
better for a variety of small little things ..)

Now I got some (stupid) simple questions:

    a) task switching
OK, alt-tab works ... but using shift in there ... doesnt
go in reverse order ... and much worse for me: i want to
alt-tab ALL my applications, not just the one on the
current desktop. So - where do I configure such essential
    things?

    b) screensaver
I loved the simple KDE analog clock thing. Is there
a simple way to get that thing running with gnome?

    c) when I enable "extra" on "viusal effects" ... the
desktop switch thing ... seems to loose some features.
Is there really no way to make use of better effects
    without loosing my desktop names?

    d) is there a way to tell zenity that I want to
enter a password? So it masks my input ... like
    kdialog would do?

    a) task switching
you can use compiz's switchers for that
Keep your important files in HOSTS when ubuntu is installed with WUBI
How to install ANYTHING in Ubuntu!
'No PUB KEY' error? Try this!

Oh great. Sophisticated task switching must
be really complex and of no value to the ordinary user.

Anyway. Are there any options besides

    apt-get install kubunut-desktop

(its not like the initial "none" visual effects
    task switching was any better)

"Screenlets" are good for analogue clocks (and other desktop eye-candy).

    True. Nice stuff.

    But not a screen saver.

Yes the lightweight simple xfce provides a MUCH better way
    of task switching.

    b) switched to the xscreensaver package (instead of the gnome thing)...
there you can even change the gltext thing without touching a file.
So now i am running gltext with some modifications to just display
a digital clock. not nice, but sufficient.

    d) back to kdialog
