Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

    Hi guys,

I restored my system getting out of the loop thanks to the ibernate button, which let me delete the start-up application. (next time I will use down arrow in booting step)

Unfortunately I have tried several times to change the xinitrc file adding "#" at the beginning of the last line. It just saids that I have no permissions.

So today I tried to open the xinitrc file by terminal, but with no results.

    which is the right way?

    brezeler@brezeler-laptop:~$ cd linuxwacom-0.8.5-4
    brezeler@brezeler-laptop:~/linuxwacom-0.8.5-4$ sudo -i
    [sudo] password for brezeler:
    root@brezeler-laptop:~# ./xinitrc.sh
-bash: ./xinitrc.sh: No such file or directory
    root@brezeler-laptop:~# ./xinitrc
-bash: ./xinitrc: No such file or directory
    root@brezeler-laptop:~# cd /ect/X11/xinit/xinitrc
-bash: cd: /ect/X11/xinit/xinitrc: No such file or directory
    root@brezeler-laptop:~#

    Hi Gondrano,

You are in the wrong directory. It is not in your unpacked linuxwacom tar, it is at "/etc/X11/xinit/". Please see "Section 3: Calibrating your Tablet" at this HOW TO.

Yeah this is windows XP configuration and linux.
So it would seem that somewhere the mapping has got mixed up. Like bromolex I can change the other keys except for ? using wacomcpl. But there is no left click by default. A toggle may be able to script if you can assign a key to a script.

Using wacomcpl I can change buttons 2. 3. and 4. but not the bottom one.
I can also change using xsetwacom. Bewfore I was only trying to change button 1 (which may be the mystery key). I get this in my dmesg when I click it:

    [10715.998719] [wacom-0.8.5-9/1] data: 02 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Another issue I had was that I can't seem to move the cursor if the mouse button is depressed.
Anyway this is a great I can't wait to get touch working. Even though its fairly ropey I noticed you can zoom in/out and scroll with two fingers.
Are there plans afoot to have two finger swiping and rotation?

Bamboo P&T tablet button assignments in Win XP

    Top : Toggle Touch
    MidTop : Back*
    MidBot : Right click
    Bottom : Left click

    * - move Back within browser (???. It is not Backspace or Sh+Left). Can't figure it out.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

    OK,

here I am again with my report:

    model: Bamboo Fun CTH-661
    kernel: 2.6.31generic
modernized wacom fdi and degrabbyfied synaptics fdi
linuxwacom 0.8.5-9 with patch suggested by ob1kenobi

works: Stylus, pad, touch movement, eraser
sometimes works: scrolling, zooming (OK, maybe I'm not used to it enough)
    doesn't work: rotation, swipes

    Good work!! Really impressive.

I installed CellWrite and now I will enjoy my tools in inkscap ...

    Regards, Daniel.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

    Hi everyone,

Ob1kenobi updated his patch to .2 (fixing the Capacity issue) for linuxwacom 0.8.5-9 and introduced another to correct a spelling error: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...nuxwacom-devel (you might want to check it out Daniel)

Ping has apparently accepted it and it will be in 0.8.5-10:
The errors under 2.6.26/wacom* is my fault. I will fix it in -10.
There are other updates from Jason Childs, which will be merged into
    -10 too.
    From: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...xwacom-discuss

So we might finally be there!

Edit: Oops. Spoke too soon. They want some (hopefully) minor changes. But ob1's got the attention of both lead dev.s so I think they definitely are interested.

    Hi bromalex and munooka,
Using wacomcpl I can change buttons 2. 3. and 4. but not the bottom one.
I believe the buttons are reported as 2,3,4,5. Apparently there is a bug in Xorg that is reporting it as 4 buttons and then cuts off the buttons at 4 which is why 5 isn't configurable. Folks with the old style Bamboo are seeing this with their Touch ring: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...xwacom-discuss It sends scroll up (button4) but not scroll down (button5). The posting is disjointed and not consolidated into 1 thread for some reason so I couldn't find Alexia's patch again. So anyway apparently this is an Xserver/Xinput problem, not a linuxwacom problem.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

I followed the install instructions (I'm using Jaunty), everything compiles, but I dont seem to get the /dev/wacom or /dev/input/... devices created, and so 'xsetwacom list' gives me nothing as yet.

    The driver got installed:
    ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/input/tablet/wacom.ko -las
    72 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 71105 2010-01-06 11:34 /lib/modules/2.6.28-17-generic/kernel/drivers/input/tablet/wacom.ko

I can see the device via lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 056a:00d4 Wacom Co., Ltd

And have a matching entry in /lib/udev/rules.d/40-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules:
    ATTRS{idVendor}=="056a", ATTRS{idProduct}=="00d4", SYMLINK="input/tablet-wacom-bamboo-pen_touch-$env{WACOM_TYPE}"

Checking 'messages' I see the following:

Can anyone suggest something to get the devices hooked up?

    Hi javahollic,

Did you install the .fdi? See post #579. Either the new-generic rc2 or test3.5.

    Is the wacom.ko auto-loading? In a terminal:
    Code:
    lsmod | grep wacom

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

Hopefully this does not create confusion for everyone, but I have updated the first post to be based on ob1kenobi's submitted patches based on Favux's message in this post.

As usual, I do not have one of these devices so all I was able to do is compile the source to verify that it compiles cleanly. Please let me know if something is missing.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

    Ah Ayuthia,

I saw, that I'm not able to configure anything regarding touch with wacomcpl

    (CTH-661, Karmic)

But it is not a big thing... I do not need big config games, as the resent version of the driver does exactly what I want, thanks a lot.

    Regards, Wv
