EDIT: BTW when I replace, I wipe both linuxwacom and wcm_patch directories untar and apply patches etc. I didn't remove fdi or udev files and I did patch everything.
Can you try the newer patch? We have been running into problems with version 10 where the kernel module kept reloading.

Just a note to everyone about touch on the CTH-460 tablet. If touch is working the white LED get brighter as you touch (this didn't happen on my dud tablet). Also a reminder that if the stylus is turning the LED red, touch will have NO effect. The stylus over-rides touch internally.

Not sure I know what you mean. I downloaded from post #1 just before recompiling and testing?

    EDIT: file info is '3314 Nov 12 21:38 wcm_patch.0.8.5-3.tar.bz' - I will try again...

Post #1 should have wacom_wac.c showing
    #define PATCH 12

From your /var/log/messages, it is showing [wacom-10] instead of [wacom-12].

By the way, when you say that the pen overrides the touch, does that mean that if you start with the touch in Linux it might report until you switch over to the pen? I was also noticing that in earlier posts it sounds like there is a button to turn on the touch. Is that correct?

Ok - I just re-downloaded from post #1 and I am getting PATCH 10! Wait a second... My bad, duh! I had another tab open with that post sitting in it from a while ago and was downloading from it - an old link!!!
EDIT: BEWARE! I have Firefox set to reload prev tabs but it must use cached data, cuz even after a reboot I was downloading from an old link

OK - will do it right this time!

Yes, if you are using touch and then use the stylus, the stylus will over ride touch. This is a hardware feature I believe, so if you rest your hand on the pad and then use the stylus your hand doesn't interfere.

On the tablet a button can be assigned to turn touch on an off. On my Mac and I expect Windows, you can assign that function to any one of the 4 buttons - so it is software driven.

Is the pen responding with the evdev driver? If so, then I can start looking at the X portion to see why it is not getting assigned properly. By any chance do you know if hal-setup-wacom is getting installed?

No Ayuthia, no pen response. How do I tell if hal-setup-wacom is getting installed - I have no clue.
    EDIT: tried manually
    Code:
    # /usr/lib/hal/hal-setup-wacom
    hal-setup-wacom: Failed to get UDI
I noticed that you are calling wacom_bamboo_pen_irq() instead of wacom_bamboo_pt_irq() in wacom_wac.c - is that on purpose?

It is what Pierre Chambert called it and I have not changed it yet. I was wanting to test out the code to see if it worked better than what we had and it seemed to be fine for 0.8.5-1 then when we moved to 0.8.5-3 it no longer worked. I then started reviewing the code and found that it is pretty much what we have submitted except he did not use the 0x80 code (which we found has cause the stylus to not work) and then I noticed that there was no coding for the eraser.

As for hal-setup-wacom, it should be able to be found in /usr/lib/hal or /usr/libexec/hal. Can you check the dates if you have both? I am noticing that the most recent copy that I have is in /usr/libexec/hal, but the rest of the other hal data seems to be in /usr/lib/hal.

Ah, ok - I figured likely. EDIT: I did try reinstating your _pt_ function but I get no response either.

    Should I delete some - sym-link?
