No printer after Karmic clean install

This is a clean install of Karmic v. 9.10.

There is no printer driver for my Brother MFC-240C?

    This isn't funny, guys!

I went to the Brother Linux support & driver page(s). I followed the instructions. (they are up to Jaunty v. 9.04), but thought they might work anyway. NO, they GDebi says "unmet dependencies"

So I will have no printer, scanner & fax until Brother or someone else has drivers?

Is this possible? Surely there is a work-around or something, but a netsearch on the keywords: mfc-240c & karmic, shows nothing to help.

    Help!

That's 28 pages of non Karmic related pages before lucking across this one post.
