How to disable FireFox's "back" mouse-button command?

I have assigned one of my mouse buttons to a command that I regularly use via btnx, but it seems that this mouse-button is already reserved within FireFox for its "back" command.

How do I disable FireFox's use of this mouse-button?

I've been searching all morning and have been unable to find anything on this topic, myself. I have found a host of irate Windows users complaining that Mozilla has been sitting on their hands with regard to the inability to unmap these keys for a few years:

This suggests to me that it doesn't exist natively and that Mozilla doesn't really care to address it.
