    Re: 9.10 webcam a4tech pk-130mg

    Hello !

    I had same problem with my webcam "0ac8:0302 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0302 WebCam". I tried many things to solev, but no success. I think that something with new kernel 2.6.31
    I made downgrade to 9.04 and everything is working pretty nice.
    Solution: better wait version 9.10 stay more stable.

    Cheers,

    MusJet

    Re: 9.10 webcam a4tech pk-130mg

    Hello,

    gauss_gs, thanks a lot for these advice:

    The resolution for this problem is to recompile gspca drivers from source with some modifications of vc032x source.

    Before begin, disconnect camera from your PC and do:
    $ modprobe -r gspca_vc032x

    First, you will need to get source and some required packages:
    Code:
    $ sudo aptitude install mercurial build-essential linux-headers libncurses5-dev
    $ hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/
    $ cd gspca
    $ sudo make menuconfig
    Disable DVB subsystem in menuconfig because you need full configured kernel source to compile DVB (I think, you have only kernel headers installed).

    Now, you will need to edit source file at ~/gspca/linux/drivers/media/video/gspca/vc032x.c:

    Code:
    static const struct sensor_info sensor_info_data[] = {
    /*      sensorId,         I2cAdd,<----->IdAdd,  VpId,  m1,    m2,  op */
    #if 1
    <------>{-1,<--><------>    0x80 | 0x30, 0x0a, 0x0000, 0x25, 0x24, 0x05},
    Change highlighted #if 1 to #if 0, then do:
    Code:
    $ make all
    $ make all install
    Then connect camera to your pc. it must work now.

    My camera begun work, but image is upside-down.
    Now I need a solution to fix upside-down image.

    Sorry for my bad english.

    Lightbulb Re: 9.10 webcam a4tech pk-130mg

    If you got upside down image in 640x480 resolution (you probably got it), just use this temporary workaround that Jean-Francois Moine, the gspca developer, sent to me:

    ...change the line 929:
    {0x08, 0x00, 0x27, 0xbb}, {0x20, 0x01, 0x03, 0xbb},
    to
    {0x08, 0x00, 0x27, 0xbb}, {0x20, 0x01, 0x00, 0xbb},
    I hope this is temporary workaround, we're trying to fix it permanently. Confirmed to work with changeset #13845:941722c6ae31 ('tip' at the moment of posting).

    Hello g00fy11 and gauss !
    In my case, my webcam Samsung Pleomax
    Bus 004 Device 005: ID 0ac8:0302 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0302 Webcam
    is using modules:

    lsmod |grep gspca

    gspca_zc3xx 47580 0
    gspca_main 22812 1 gspca_zc3xx
    videodev 36736 1 gspca_main

    Is possible edit file to fix problem ?
    Same problem happen here with with image.

    Cheers,

    Detection, flip and freezes fixed in latest version (rev c05cc762eff2 in hg) of gspca source code. Now it doesn't require any changes, just clone repository, recompile from source and everything will be ok.

    Code:
    hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca
    cd gspca
    ### if u doesn't have full kernel source - disable DVB in menuconfig
    make menuconfig
    make
    ### unplug the camera here
    sudo modprobe -r gspca_vc032x gspca_main
    sudo make install
    ### plug in the camera and enjoy
    Thanks to Jean Francois Moine for his beautiful work.

    At first, I need your dmesg output. Next just try to compile latest gspca modules without any changes in source code.
