    Monitor Turns-off when watching Videos?

    Hi,

I would like to know how I can prevent a fading black screen (Monitor turnoff) while watching video. I dont want to turn-off my settings, just prevent it when im watching video.
I use VLC Media Player and have Ubuntu 9.10

I would really appreciate some help

    Thnx

    Hi.

I don't think this is possible as it's due to your powersaving settings starting.

I would suggest you set your "shutdown my screen after xxx" to say 2 hours.

Thnx for the info...but I would like to keep my current setting. Is there no other way to change this or prevent this from happening when running certain programs?

I have the same trouble in 9.10, this wasn't an issue in 9.04, I'm not sure what's changed.

Surely there's a way to prevent this?

Yes it would be great if there is a fix for this. In windows media player, windows makes a execption for it when watching videos...why can't I do this in 9.10?

I'm using Kubuntu 9.10, and on my laptop there is a power profile for presentation that disables your screen turning off and all that. Unfortunately it doesn't automatically switch to that setting when in full-screen, so you have to manually change the power profile before and after watching vids.

Does someone perhaps have a solution for me? Because it's really irritating to move the mouse every time, to just get it to go normal again. I don't want to disable my screensaver...Is there no way I can do this with a command or script to make exeptions for certain players e.g movie player, banshee?

I had the same problem with VLC 1.0.1, I can't remember how did I solve it. I guess I after upgrading to 1.0.2 and later 1.0.3 the problem was gone.

    Hope this participation helps
