iPod 5.1.1 will not mount or sync with Xubuntu + libimobiledevice

Hi,

I've been looking over the internet for the last month trying to figure this out.

I want to sync the iPod Touch 5.1.1 with my Xubuntu (it's the latest version, as I updated yesterday), and have downloaded Rhythmbox and libimobiledevice. When I plug the iPod in, it says it is connected, but will not mount.

I have to go to Gigolo to manually connect it, and when I try to transfer music to it in Rhythmbox (it shows up under Devices with help from Gigolo) the iPod does not sync. So, I am stumped and have no clue where to go from here.

From my limited understanding, libgpod has not been fixed so that the music database hash value can be computed. This is the only work around I have found, not at all ideal, requires jailbreaking your ipod,
