Stay away from 9.10 !!!!!!!

I have just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and nothing seems to work any-more. Programs start and then crash immediately, sound has gone haywire and my computer has become so slow that using it is unpleasant. Fortunately, I still have another laptop that I have just seamlessly upgraded from XP to Windows 7.

If you are still using Ubuntu 9.04 DON'T UPGRADE to 9.10 !!!

What a load of balonie,As its new there OBVIUOSLY will be issues,i upgraded and it all worked for me apart from the sound which was a bit crackly,people have to give this time,its new out and issues will get fixed,however if your on 9.04 like i am i suggest waiting a few weeks when until things get ironed out a bit more.

I just finished upgrading... almost...

Using Upgrade Manager in Ibis, I upgraded to Koala... but xulrunner would not install. Everything else appears to be installed. I was informed that I did not have a complete installation, and that my system may not boot properly. I was asked to report the problem, and clicked on the icon to do so... a minute later, I was informed that my download was not a genuine Ubuntu installation and therefore could not be reported.

The system did, after some fancy keywork, reboot. But without Firefox, so I couldn't get online to report it (fortunately I also have a ******* machine). I attempted to upgrade my installation, and was told that I did not have a complete installation and so could only do a partial install. While doing that, I booted my ******* machine and am using it to type this message.

Sadly, I have to agree. This.is.a.disaster.

Problems I have run into so far:

No sound. It just does not work. Worked fine before.

Nautilus keeps crashing. (!) I mean really, come on.

npviewer.bin keeps crashing. (flash?)

Slloowwww bootup. Twice as long as Jaunty, and lots of flicker.

2 hangs on shutdown so far.

I can't believe this is supposed to be production quality. It hurts me to say this, but win7 + cygwin is looking better and better.

You are OBVIOUSLY a very canny Scot because you yourself have stayed away from the 9.10 upgrade. You must have more experience of these problems than I ?
Meanwhile Windows delivers.
