Pop-up Notifications spaced far from panel

I upgraded to Karmic final yesterday from Jaunty, and now my pop-up notifications have a large gap between them and the GNOME panel, as though there's another pop-up notification already there. (My GNOME panel's orientation is at top). I've tried changing the theme and position in the notifications settings, but changing those doesn't change anything. I've also tried replacing Compiz with Metacity and I encounter the same problem.

When I change the panel orientation to bottom, the notifications appear in the same place vertically, but instead in the secondary monitor (which sits to the right, and does not have any panels on it).

Happy to provide any additional information.

I have the same problem. But it seems like it is a feature, not a bug. Let's wait until 10.04...

Are you sure this a feature? What a pitty!

    Yep it is a 'feature'.

Change your volume and it should be at the top. That space is reserved for that type of stuff I think.

This doesn't seem like it can be right. But yes I do see it in the correct location when changing volume.

edit: apparently you are correct: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...sd/+bug/438536
