Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD hangs during Gnome startup

i tried nomodeset, no change.

I was able to get a stack trace of Xorg after it froze. I did this twice, the first time was:

So it definitely looks like the intel driver is hanging.

It must be something more than the Intel driver as it is affecting me with the nvidia and nv xorg driver.
