so i toke all the commands and put them in little ugly script.
if someone here also lazy you can use it

This script working on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit and Mint 9 64bit (Know by testing).

if you use it you need to run him as administrator and to be interactive with him until the "make menuconfig" command.

maybe some one alse have the time to edit this script to a "normal" one until the next update...

    Download the script here
in my grub2 file, i have set GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi=off"
after run the script, should i set empty for that line?

    thanks

Is this fix hardware specific? I have a Toshiba E205-S1904 with the same issue. I have to have acpi-off at boot if I want to load Lucid? Can I use the same patch?

    Thanks,

I case the patch will success, yes, you have to cut out this settings to not harm your hardware.

But be aware, do this change before you run the script otherwise you will have to run the "update-grub" command after the script.

    Have luck!

    "Is this fix hardware specific?":
    Usually for Toshiba Satellite.
you can see more details about thus patch here:
    The original bug report.

"I have to have acpi-off at boot if I want to load Lucid?"
i dont know, you can try or wait to answer from someone else, sorry im not familiar with Lucid.

"Can I use the same patch?"
if you dont have important information on the system you can just try it.
Eventually the script just install newer kernel.

    Hi HeXor,

I got problem after apply your script & reboot my laptop. The screen drop to shell.
What should I do so I can go to login screen?

When apply your script, in the middle of process, before kernel compiling process, I have to let setting as is or I have to change something?

My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L510 with Intel Core i3, ISADORA as main OS.

    Thanks

Re: Toshiba L505D ACPI issue with 9.1/9.04

I followed the steps, and I was able to boot up my E205-S1904. It hung on boot though. I think it could be that the kernel was AMD specific, and not compatible with the Intel i5. Is this fix processor specific? The Intel i5 is a 64 bit processor, but not an AMD.

    Thanks,

The kernels downloaded from some posts don´t works for me, then I compiled several kernels until get the fully functionality.

    You can download it from:

    http://www.coxei.com.ar/Cosas/linux-...stom_amd64.deb

Compiled on Toshiba L505-GS5037 (intel, but "my" kernel is generic) using the official Ubuntu´s .config (.config-2.6.32-22-generic) and the linux-source from repository (lucid).
