Hi!
I'm having trouble enabling wireless on my machine (The "Enable Wireless" checkbox is greyed out). More information:
1. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 14 laptop (1440, specifically).
2: lspci gives:
3. Output of ifconfig:Code:0c:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5100
(the line with IP addresses in eth0 is removed by me)Code:user@host:~$ ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:64:67:4e:4b --line removed-- inet6 addr: fec0::a:225:64ff:fe67:4e4b/64 Scope:Site inet6 addr: 2002:800c:e096:a:225:64ff:fe67:4e4b/64 Scope:Global inet6 addr: fe80::225:64ff:fe67:4e4b/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:30189 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:5009 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:9256604 (9.2 MB) TX bytes:812764 (812.7 KB) Interrupt:250 Base address:0x6000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:34 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:34 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:11152 (11.1 KB) TX bytes:11152 (11.1 KB) wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:24:d6:2b:bc:c6 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) wmaster0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-24-D6-2B-BC-C6-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)

Sorry if this is too much information - I figured more information would make this easier to solve! Thanks very much in advance!Code:user@host:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart * Reconfiguring network interfaces... [ OK ]![]()
