sure... at a console type Code: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and when your done type... Code: sudo killall gdm then type Code: sudo gdm Is this what you needed?
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo killall gdm
sudo gdm
