Hey everyone, my name saifallah. I've been so much involved in ubuntu and really proud of open source communities. I study at the German-Jordanian University and I would really like to help in each possible way.
That's great! We're so happy that you wish to contribute. Check out https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ContributeToUbuntu for a number of ways to contribute. PS. Welcome to Ubuntu Forums!
I'm currently creating a website about ubuntu. Check it out here. Annoyed by ads on Grooveshark? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JdUFN-yorY The un-official Grooveshark Desktop App! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FRZgpOLDRw
Hi, Saif. Welcome to the world of freedom. Maybe the best to help open source is to start by helping yourself. I mean, try to use open source alternatives to the proprietary ones. For example, if you use MS c++ compiler in the university, try to compile your code against GNU C compiler so you be sure of how to switch to the open source later. The same applies to anything you use in university. Try to make your friends aware of the open source world, and try to show them how much it is superior to what they used to. If you build a good community around open source in your university, it will be a good idea to organize events and activities with http://www.jolug.org/ or http://www.just.edu.jo/opensource/.
salam alykum wr wb Saif, welcome to the ubuntu community

Open Source is not necessarily superior to whatever they may be using. Everything has its place and some things work better for different people. Open Source should be celebrated not enforced. saif_held: Welcome to the forums and the community. Have fun

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. ----------------------------------------------------------- @emigrant w alikom asalam w rahmato allah w barakatoh ------------------------------------------------------------ I've actaully requested to join the Jo-LoCo but well I've no idea how much time do "they" need to decide. Meanwhile I'll try my best to come up with other "open source"-minded persons from my school
