now alt-codes dont work - ie. alt-46 should print a .
instead nothing happens
I can still type alt-codes in tty
any suggestions how to fix this?

I'd love to know an answer to this. I never figured out how to enter Alt-codes in Ubuntu, period - didn't know there was a problem specifically in jaunty.
