Download updates on a different system to disc for use later?

    Hello !

It's been a while since I last posted. I get along quite well on my own now, thanks to all you bean-filled geeks' lovely help.

However.. I have since built a rather sexual new system. And I have also moved. My new flat has no phone socket at all! Here, that means I either have to pay over £100 to get one installed, or struggle with not smashing a wireless satellite-type dongle to pieces because the reception in my little seaside town is quite possibly worse than the outlook on life of one of those little maggots that come out of a sheep's butt if you don't de-tail it, had it just discovered itself plunging into a vat of medicated solution.

Thus, my box has no internets. And I want to update my Ubu. And I cannot, for the life of me, remember how (or if it is even possible) to download the updates via my computer at work (XP, I'm afraid) to burn them to disc and carry them home to my poor, lonely Ubu box.

My brain SAYS I can do this, but it steadfastly refuses to give me any other information, and I cannot find anything on the forums, and any useful keywords other than 'ubunut, update, download' are just not popping to mind. Please help?
When you only have two choices, take the third.

Easy ways to install multimedia codecs (wma, dvd playback etc), internet formats (flash, java etc) and more.

Hi, have a look at Keryx, it allows you to grab the updates from another machine connected to the Internet (including windows).
Here is a tutorial on how to use Keryx.
