I couldn't enable visual effects in ubuntu

Hello!

i'm a new user to ubuntu and i installed it successfully with wubi installer inside my windows xp professional sp2. Whenever i enable desktop effects in my ubuntu from none to normal or extra. The system gives me a message like " desktop effects cannot be enabled"

my configuration is

intel dual core 2.8GHz
1GB DDR1 RAM
80GB HDD
zippys nVidia geforce fx5500 256MB DDR

never used wubi but you may need to install the drivers. desktop effects can only work on 3d accelerated pc. Wubi has no direct access to drvers from my perspective but this is my speculation.
