How to use the Wu chinese input system to type simplified characters

I have been learning Shanghainese for a few weeks and today I learned that Ubuntu had an input system for it (Wu)!! This really surprised me since it is a dialect but I was quite happy. I used to type Shanghainese using the Pinyin output system and it is now much easier to think in the language while writing it. The only drawback is that it only outputs traditional characters while simplified characters are used in Shanghai. Is there any way to use the Wu input system to type simplified characters?
