want to record cut, tag etc. streaming mp3 audio

    Hi:

I'd like to record streaming audio from the Internet (last.fm, pandora, etc.) and I need to know what software is available to record the stream, cut it into single files (i.e. songs) and name it using the id tags.

I don't want to use Audacity or any other recorder that just records one long mp3 file that needs to be split and id'd later.

What software have you used that works?

    Thanks.

P.S. I want something that works with Linux/Ubuntu - i.e. not something that uses Wine, etc.

I'm not sure there is anything that will record separate tracks, as you want, but if you use audacity, or even better strteamripper to record streams, or also perhaps mplayer to record realplayer streams (eg BBC in UK) you can then separate the tracks with mp3splt. It will do it by time, or even by silences, and can be very useful for making separate tracks from a long single recording.

Audacity is the program for doing everything you want to do:

It will record the sound coming out of your PC
It will allow you to label and split up a long file into shorter ones
It will allow you to add ID3 tags to your mp3 exports
    No longer participating......
