Thread: We need to support indies and LGP.

Re: We need to support indies and LGP.

As an indie game developer myself I can tell you that a lot of people are already buying indie games for Linux. As a matter of fact, I sell more games for Linux than for Windows! So as an indie game developer, it's definitely worth supporting Linux, but unfortunately a lot of them still focus only on Windows and Mac.
The problem is not the technology, because there are lots of ways to create multiplatform games without extra effort.

But how do you know it's the fault of Xorg?
My Xorg never crash for me or at the linux machines at work, nor my parents. Not saying it's impossible.

In your case it could be faulty hardware or incompatible hardware.

I never had any problems with ATI, cannot say the same for Nvidia.

I have the penumbra games as well as sacred gold from lgp and i actively advertise for lgp to other websites (like the novatech forum which has a linux bit on it ).

I plan to buy Shadowgrounds from LGP in the next month or two.

I also have Osmos as they promised a Linux port (and it is heck of a game!).

With that said only recently has Jaunty stabalised for me having an ATi card i can sympathise with anyone who has had problems with them, my Jaunty install would freeze every single day and all i could do was power off/on. But now it seems to be a LOT better.

I really do love supporting companies that produce games for linux. I just cant bring myself to buy a crappy game to just support linux gaming.

World of Goo was a lot of fun. Im waiting for Osmos to come out now.

The thing that stops me is the fact that I have to order it in from overseas, I can't find any resellers in New Zealand, maybe I should fill the void myself, I'm sure other people would have the same reason.

Then the LGP download system is exactly what you need, tuxgames participate in it and gradually more games are getting added into it from LGPs library
