Re: printing with Canon Pixma MP560

    thanx,

I get these errors following the first guide you provided...

    dpkg: error processing cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb (--install):
package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64)
    dpkg: error processing cnijfilter-mp560series_3.20-1_i386.deb (--install):
package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64)
dpkg-deb: error: file `X.deb' is not a debian binary archive (try dpkg-split?)
    dpkg: error processing X.deb (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb
    cnijfilter-mp560series_3.20-1_i386.deb
    X.deb

I haven't tried the one where I'm supposed to unpack the .deb file and remove the dependencies...

    Update 2:

After using force architecture I get those depend on errors... so I would need to remove the dependencies like you did except I have no idea how to get that step done...

This is corrected by applying the --force-architecture change to the install.sh files

    C_FUNC_show_and_exec "sudo dpkg --force-architecture -iG $c_fpath_pkg_name"

If you look through the various posts you will see this mentioned a lot.

Even after I add force architecture to the install.sh file I get errors... I give up

    hey ontwowheels,

how did you remove the entire Depend line from all .deb files... this is where I get stuck?

The link you provided I can't really follow?

    Thanx

    Hi Patak,
    Ref: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1427098
Use a modified version of Barna's great step by step instructions to edit the control script in the expanded control.tar.gz file. Instead of using sed to modify "/libcupsys2/libcups2" in the Depends line, delete the entire Depends line then recompile the control.tar.gz and subsequently the new modified deb. Repeat this procedure for all four canon install debs.
    cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb
    cnijfilter-mp560series_3.20-1_i386.deb
    scangearmp-common_1.40-1_i386.deb
    scangearmp-mp560series_1.40-1_i386.deb
Then install using the dpkg -i --force-architecture *.deb to satisfy the amd64 architechture.
