    .application Help needed fast

I have no clue how to install a .application file with either Wine or Mono.

I have both installed and need to install in Linux a file.application

That is how it appears, and under Vista, once started, it loads the installed. I believe this is in a .net program. I need this program for work, anyone know where I should begin?

Find the file in bash and run:
    Code:
    wine file.application

That program probably doesn't work in Wine

Thats what I am asking, does anyone know how to get this .net program to work in Linux?

    What is this program?
    What does it do?

    Re: .application Help needed fast

did you install .net (or mono) in wine?
    Try this:
    http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks

Use it to easily install and configure .NET or mono as well as other things it might need (corefonts, mfc42, etc)

    Re: .application Help needed fast

It is a database program that links to a mysql server. But it is imperative that this program runs for me in Ubuntu.

I have never had a problem with Wine running .exe files ever. I have heard much about how great Mono is for .net programs, but have yet to have this work either.

I really hate having to switch into Vista just to use 1 program. Other than this one program, I have been windows free for almost 5 years, but this is a pain!

    Re: .application Help needed fast

I meant install the windows version of mono in wine. If its .NET application, it needs .NET or mono framework to work. that goes for windows, and that goes for wine. Not saying it will work, but its worth a shot.

    Re: .application Help needed fast

.application files are Microsoft ClickOnce installer files. I know of no way to use them in Linux. Not that installing would help - these are usually WPF apps, and WPF requires recent Microsoft.NET so is neither Mono nor Wine friendly.
