    In theory, yes. However, it may be worthwhile to connect the cable, and then reboot the computer with the cable plugged in. Sometimes the video hardware doesn't tell the OS that there is something plugged in unless it is plugged in at boot. Thats how my laptop is, anyway.

    oh ok, so if ubuntu works with HDMI will i be able to watch anything i want on an HD TV?

    Yes you should be able to turn your HD TV into a secondary computer monitor and watch whatever you want on it. Although it may take some tinkering with the TV's and your computer's settings to get it to do that.

    but what about if i put cairo dock in the future... will the dock cause problems if i plug my TV with the computer? will it stay in the primary monitor?

    Hello Community,

    I have Dell Latitude N series with Ubuntu 12.04.

    I tried to connect my laptop to Sony Bravia using HDMI cable but i am not able to see anything on TV.

    Kindly let me know what procedure I need to follow to setup this.
