    Re: HDMI port in laptop

You could try Ubuntu on a live CD and try to use your laptop's HDMI. If it works it is compatible. If it doesn't work then it is not compatible. The good thing is that with a Live CD you will not have to partition your hard drive Ubuntu will just run off the disk.

It all depends on your graphics card do you know what company it is made by? If you can find the make and model of it I could probably give you an answer.

Intel does offer a driver for Linux Here

If they offer a driver for Linux I would guess that all the features would work. I suggest trying Ubuntu on a Live CD first and test if it works first.

If you open up a terminal and run "xrandr", it will show you what outputs are available. Alternatively, System > Preferences > Display should give you similar information, except in pretty GUI form.
100 buckets of bits on the bus,
    100 buckets of bits,
Take one down, short it to ground,
FF buckets of bits on the bus.
