    Re: Updating Firefox

Forget the windows way, instead I suggest installing firefox 3.5 via the repositories.

That should help you get started, just keep in mind that firefox 3.5 will be labeled "shiretoko" after install

    Thank you, that was easy.

It said it did it and thank you for using Firefox 3.5, but when I look at About Mozilla Firefox it still says 3.0.13.

    Re: Updating Firefox

the best way to get up-to-date versions of firefox is to use "ubuntuzilla." it downloads and installs the latest versions of firefox for you.

an answer to a question that you didn't ask is that linux will fight you every step of the way if you want to download or update software. the real solution might be to just put up with firefox 3 for the time being; ubuntuzilla runs the risk of bringing problems of its own.

There are now two versions of firefox on your system. 3.5 and 3.0.
In the "internet" section of your menu, you should see a browser that starts with a "S" (i installed it before, i just can't remember the name). THAT is firefox 3

you can also install firefox with

ubuntuzilla itself can be run from the terminal as "ubuntuzilla.py", to install the latest mozilla build of firefox.

once firefox is installed, the default 'firefox' links will point to the latest firefox.
