Just got DVDs to play--they're all skippy-like. Help?

Okay, I just got DVDs to play on my computer. The problem is they're skipping. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and the standard program: Movie Player.

How do I get the skipping to stop? It's freaky and annoying...D:

well u said in the other thread the discs play fine in another drive, so it could well be the drive is playing up

do u have a spare drive to swap and test with or a friends pc u can swap the drive with?

I don't know, it used to play dvds perfectly before I switched to Ubuntu. But no, I don't have a spare drive. Unless I can use one from an older computer...? And I don't know how to install them...

try playing it in VLC and Kaffiene.

i myself have experienced multimedia that played well in one of those, but horribly in Movie Player.
