    Difference between gtk-window-decorator and compiz-decorator?

What's the difference between the two decorators? They both use metacity themes and seem to do exactly the same thing, though I suppose one of them is usable without having compiz installed. Compiz defaults to compiz-decorator, but is there any reason to switch to the gtk one?

Doesn't really matter. I suspect they point to the same program or something. When it does matter is when you want to use emerald instead of gtk-window-decorator.

using compiz-decorator just puts compiz in charge of picking the decorator - which, subsequentlyl, can enable emerald or others through the compiz interface.
