    Basic (newbie) forum advice

    Hi!
I'm in the middle of building a website for a group, and all is going well.
I want to add a foum/bulletin board type thing so i have a tab called forum that people click and end up somewhere like here - different sections can add and reply to content, but you must be registered to use it (stop spammers etc).
Now ive done the sensible thing and googled it, and got lots of answers. Having looked on here most people are recommending myBB and phpBB (free easy to use etc). Ive been on the websites and see i have to download something. Now here comes my stupidity... How do u put the forum on my site if its a program i have to run? Also as i havent built the site yet i dont yet have hosting or anything to install it into. Now if i download phpBB, what do i do with it to get it working on my pc before i upload it. Also how do i code it in to the site?
Im sorry if these are obvious answers, but i cant find the information elsewhere, and am trying to learn how to do all this on my own.

Also, on a side note, how do you get websites onto google, does it just search the <meta> tags in the html code, or do i have to do something else to it?

    Cheers,
    Steve
