    Fake Webcam

    Hello.

I was wondering if there's anything that does what 'Fake Webcam' does on Windows, for Linux.

This is about the best way I can put it: I need something that can take a stream, such as an AVI, and output it as a webcam. Thus, I can stream a 'webcam' to another person, but instead of a webcam feed, they'll see the AVI.

It seems that an application, aptly-named 'Fake Webcam', can do this, on Windows. I obviously need a Linux solution.

I've tried both AVLD and vloopback so far, with no avail. I've also tried plugging in a webcam, and 'overlapping' the /dev/video0 stream via VLC, but that didn't work either.

If anyone knows anything about it, please share.

    Thanks,

    -Mike

    Have a look at Webcamstudio.

I think it will do what you want, I have played around with it but not extensively.

    Re: Fake Webcam

Seems like the right application for what I need.

Just doesn't seem to be working for me...

Regardless, marking this thread as solved.

    Thanks.
