    ALL videos start and stop after a few seconds

    Mornin', not sure if an update did it or what, but all of a sudden I am having the following issue;

    If I try to start/load any local movie (any type) it starts (almost in slow motion), runs for about 4 or 5 seconds and just stops. This is using really any media player. The app doesn't crash but rather sits almost in a paused state, I can drag the player up a few seconds and it again will play a few seconds in slow motion, then stop again.

    Any ideas? This is running Ubunutu 9, dell XPS m1330, nvidia GEForce 8400M ver. 1.80 driver

    Any ideas are appreciated.

    ubuntu 9 has higher system requirements than older versions. what clock speed, ram, and swap space do you have? are you doing streaming video or viewing downloaded video? What resolution? What compression codec?

    I have an older system and it cannot handle all videos. It can handle some dvds, some almost all downloaded stuff, and only some streaming media. running hardy 8.04 with 700 mhz PIII, 512 mb ram, and 1 gb swap space.

    BTW, I possibly discovered a major bug in hardy 8.04. I invite you to take a look at it:
