Hello.

Using Ubuntu 8.10, I played a lot of games. I'll use Savage 2 as an example, one that I really enjoy. I recently updated to Jaunty (9.04) and suddenly all my games are unplayable as they require OpenGL 2.1 (at least). I noticed that I am no longer able to use the proprietary ATI drivers, and am using Mesa 7.4, which is apparently limited to OpenGL 1.3. Why the regression? Was it purely ATI's fault for not providing compatible drivers? I'm essentially forced to boot into Windows to play my games, and I feel like stabbing myself in the heart every time I do so. You don't know what it's like! Okay... you probably do.

Can anyone explain to me what happened?
