    Opened up xchat to see whats going on. get this.
    * *** Banned: You have a host listed in the DroneBL. For more information, visit dronebl.org/lookup_branded.do?ip=70.244.81.xxx Please contact kline@freenode.net with questions. (2009/07/25 18.32)
    * Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (Banned)
    * Disconnected (Remote host closed socket).
    Cycling to next server in FreeNode...
    * Disconnected ().
    * Looking up irc.freenode.net
    * Connecting to chat.freenode.net (208.71.169.36) port
    a vist to dronebl.org/lookup_branded.do?ip=70.244.81.xxx show this

    host is running an insecure HTTP proxy server.
    I do have LAMP setup and have a small web site setup through Dyndns. Have had that setup long before even thinking about using XCHAT or irc.
    Have been using IRC for about 8 months now - not a problem until now.

    Ip is the one assigned to me by my ISP (ATT). Thinking about unpugging my modem for a bit and get a new IP. Have sent an email as suggested in message.
    Any other ideas?

    Is it possible that your setup is not secure and can be used as a proxy without your permission? If so, you are asking for trouble.

    Back in IRC chat again.

    Got this reply back from the IRC folks

    Hi,

    You will need to resolve the issue causing you to be listed in dronebl
    before you can connect to freenode. dronebl is a third party service
    that lists IP addresses that are believed to be malicious in some way.
    If you're IP address is shared then you may want to remove the entry by
    visiting the URL in the ban message and see if the issue arises again.
    Please note that it may take a few hours after removing the listing for
    the ban to expire on freenode.

    Thanks,
    -- Tom
