    rhythmbox for windows

At work I have to use windows ... but I have replaced all my apps with open-source alternatives but i'm missing rhythmbox :'( , I've tried songbird but rhythmbox is the best music player(from my point of view). any chance of making a windows version? , I know it is possible, pidgin for windows is the proof...

Shouldn't you be asking the people in charge of the project? Maybe make a feature request? I don't think you'd be able to get them to make a Windows version, though.

    They're here: http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/

Unfortunately Rhythmbox development is pretty much dead, I doubt anyone would port it to windows.

First Gstreamer will need to be ported, which Rhythmbox depends on. Here's a little attempt to do that (still in BETA!): https://code.google.com/p/ossbuild/
    Gnome3 on 12.04 LTS. MATE on 12.10.

If you like rhythmbox, I'm sure you will love banshee as it is much better. I used to be a fan of rhythmbox, but now I wouldn't go back. On the plus side, banshee is available for Windows.

Sorry, I really don't want to start any dispute here, but: no. Just definitely not. This is personal taste, but Rhythmbox fits my wishes in a music program much better, is more intitively to use and offers more flexibility. As with any matter of personal taste, you can not argue about it, but I am sure I am not the only one thinking like this.

As for a good music player on Windows: try Winamp. Be sure to install it without the bloatware usually bundled with the free version, but it's a very good and powerful player, loads of plugins available.

Rhythmbox is dead? Why is it going to be default in 12.04 then?
