a .fuse file that won't delete?

So today I was cleaning up my data drive and I tried to delete a folder, nautilus spat an error at me saying the folder wasn't empty.

I investigate and it has a .fuseblahblahblah file owned by root in there, okay so I sudo rm -rf it and it gives me the same error.

I sudo rm -f the .fuse file and it recreates itself incrementing the last number up by one.

When I checked what type of file it is, it's the original avi file I had in this folder, playable in totem and everything.

Any idea what's going on? Here's a little example to show you what I mean

    Code:
jeremy@psion:/media/backup/NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 [2009] R5 Line Xvid (Multi Subs) [StB]$ ls -la
    total 713892
    drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-07-23 09:14 .
    drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12288 2009-07-23 08:55 ..
    -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 731011072 2009-07-17 18:55 .fuse_hidden0000004800000005

    jeremy@psion:/media/backup/NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 [2009] R5 Line Xvid (Multi Subs) [StB]$ file .fuse_hidden0000004800000005

Fuse is used for virtual filesystems, and is used for example when mounting NTFS drives.

As such, the file really shouldn't be removable. Most likely it will disappear on it's own, when you remount the drive if not before.

Re: a .fuse file that won't delete?

It seems I posted for help to soon, I figured out how to check what process has a file open, using fuser -m /path/to/file

I closed the program and all is well.
