    Re: linux commands

There are lots of shell command tutorials. Just google them. Besides, there is no way to learn the commands better than using them to get actual stuff done. Stop relying on the gui, and start using the CLI more, and they will just come to you.

One of the first things I did as an Ubuntu user was to download a copy of Keir Thomas' "Ubuntu Pocket Guide." It has all sorts of useful information, including the various commands and how to use them. You can download the "Guide" here:

There are also many different shells and the syntax vary a bit between then, not for the basic stuff though. My favorite and ubuntus default is bash, just google "bash tutorial". Its good that you want to learn the shell, learn it well and will be your friend

    Go down this list:

    http://ss64.com/bash/

    And in a terminal type:

    man $command

Replace $command with each command in the list. If you wanna exit man press "q"

Looks like you have a small library of links to wade through . Can I suggest that an excellent start would be a little closer to home in the Ubuntu community-maintained documentation:

    All the best,
