Question How to play MP3 and Mpeg files in Ubuntu

    I am new to linux.
I am very much attracted by the desktop and the new boot screen of ubuntu 5.10.
But, I am experiencing some problems.
    1) I am unable to play MP3 and mpeg files. The totem movie player says that a decoder is missing. From where can I download it.

1)I cannot connect Internet from Ubuntu.
My connection is a dialup modem (Smart Link voice fax modem). How can I configure it.

I wish to promote the usage of linux and opensource by advertizing in my site.

    Hi!

My name is Jay and maybe I can help you with your problem. If you want to play mp3 on your Ubuntu system, try visiting the Ubuntu packages website (ifyou cannot connect to the internet) and download the following: gstreamer0.8-mad plus other dependency packages of gstreamer.

    Hope I helped.
