Mac Pro Running Ubuntu, keyboard shortcuts?

I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my MacPro after trying on an external drive and getting the "GRUB Error 21" and chose to do it instead on the OSX drive...

My problem is that after getting used to linux on my laptop, I became ALT+F2 obssesed, and now I CAN'T USE IT! and it is VERY uncomfortable to have my hand on the mouse to do rutine stuff like: ALT+F2 > firefox (or gnome-terminal, or amsn, or younameit)....

I haven't found anything on that, not that I've extensively looked beyond two google pages; but keyboard shortcuts are very important to have...

EDIT: for one thing: NO F-keys are working, except for the eject and volume keys, but only as that...that's to say: I cannot even switch to tty1, for example. Just found that one out.

I have one of the aluminum keyboards, w. spanish layout...

    Thanks beforehand

Re: Mac Pro Running Ubuntu, keyboard shortcuts?

In an Apple keyboard, the F2 key increases the screen brightness. To obtain the "real" F2 key, you have to type Fn + F2. To open the run application dialog, you have to type Alt + Fn + F2. I know this is probably too complicated for everyday use, so you might want to assign a different shortcut to the run application dialog.

For more information about Apple keyboards, visit the Wiki:
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppleKeyboard

The Wiki also shows how to disable the behavior I explained.

Cool Re: Mac Pro Running Ubuntu, keyboard shortcuts?

I want to buy MacPro black keyboard and I wonder how do I make is whole usable under (X)Ubuntu Hardy.
I supposed earlier that it should work like every other PC USB keyboard,
because it have just enough keys, but after this response of yours,
I am thinking about not using mac keyboard on PC..

Link on wiki talks only about aluminum keyboard but not about older ones.
Where I could find info about them?
