Question Installation problem on AMD Sempron 2400+

    Hello All,

I have been using Ubuntu 8.04 on my office pc for the last one year now. And everything went on good. The system that I have in my office has an Intel Dual Core 1.80 Ghz processor with 1 GB DDR RAM and 160 GB hard drive. The system has dual-boot option with Windows XP on it also.

I thought of using Ubuntu 8.04 on my home pc also with Windows XP. The configuration of the system at my home is AMD Sempron 2400+ 1.4 GHz, 768 MB SDR RAM and 80 GB hard drive.

When I try installing it with Windows XP already installed on it, it gives an I/O Buffer error. And keeps on giving it. I don't have much knowledge of Linux, so can't figure out why the error is coming.

I had ordered the CD online from Canonical. So I think the CD might not be damaged!

Can anyone help me on this? Because I have read that Ubuntu has been installed on almost same configuration that I have on my machine with Windows XP.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gurpreet

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Visited the link, but its way over my head.

Couldn't find the exact solution to my problem.

I'll post the exact error that I get during the installation. Maybe that would help in locating the problem!

    Thanks,
    Gurpreet
