Hello all, I have recently reinstalled Ubuntu and for some reason I am unable to watch videos on any website besides Youtube. Does anyone have an idea? There is a giant grey play button where the videos should be. Like I say, Youtube is fine just any place else I go I am unable to view videos. I just reinstalled the flash pluging for Firefox and videos are still not playing. (only Youtube works).

I am getting about 50% of videos now.
well you have flash 9.0 and it should be 10 you may also need java some websites use java to show their content.. to install it type this in a terminal Code: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-fonts sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-fonts sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
I removed all Flash packages and reinstalled them. This seems to have taken care of the problem!

The download for the 64 bit Flash is at the very bottom of the page! Detailed installation instructions are located on this site. Hope this helps you out! Have a great day!

I would try removing your Java and Flash packages and then reinstalling them. That solved the issue for me. ~james edit: I have yet to come across a need for Quicktime in Ubuntu.
