Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

I installed sixad from the 1.2.1b download with make install-system, but I was unable to install qtsixa.
At least I think I'm using the 1.2.1b version, however, the version displayed in sixad -v says it's 1.2.0. Did you update that?

It's not the PPA version, I haven't figured out how to install that one. Should qtsixa be available in Synaptic Software Center if I added the PPA repo correctly?

sorry for the slow reply btw..

hm, the "sixad -v", probably i just forgot... it happens sometimes

the PPA version is TESTING, and I'm glad u don't use that one, cause it still needs some work there...

    About your mouse error, I think it's something related to a PS3-Ubuntu bug... (I don't have a PS3, sorry)

Can you check for older posts?
There was a problem similar to yours...

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

    I've got another question sorry.

I'm currently making a profile, which is a fairly simple task. What I want though is to use only the vertical motion of the left joystick mapped to the mouse, and the horizontal motion of the right joystick mapped to the mouse. That way I can use the analog motion of both joysticks to control a car model in Blender.

I thought about using the scroll option, although it doesn't seem to be analog.

    Any ideas?

What linux/ubuntu version do you use?

Supposing that is not Lucid, this can be possible and should be simple.

First you should create a basic profile to start.
Then edit it manually through a text editor, and make the axes part like this:

    Code:
            <merge key="input.x11_options.MapAxis1" type="string">mode=none</merge>
            <merge key="input.x11_options.MapAxis2" type="string">mode=relative axis=+2y deadzone=5000</merge>
            <merge key="input.x11_options.MapAxis3" type="string">mode=none</merge>
            <merge key="input.x11_options.MapAxis4" type="string">mode=relative axis=+2x deadzone=5000</merge>
Not sure if that is exactly what you want, but it should give you an idea of how it works.
Tell me if you need any more help

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

Unfortunately I'm running Lucid. I've tried to install 1.2.1b but it fails when I try to make. Part of the error is displayed below:

sdp.c:37:33: error: bluetooth/bluetooth.h: No such file or directory
sdp.c:38:29: error: bluetooth/l2cap.h: No such file or directory
sdp.c:39:27: error: bluetooth/sdp.h: No such file or directory
sdp.c:40:31: error: bluetooth/sdp_lib.h: No such file or directory
sdp.c:41:28: error: bluetooth/hidp.h: No such file or directory
sdp.c:42:28: error: bluetooth/bnep.h: No such file or directory

I'll just wait till you've completed the next version before using profiles. Thanks for your help anyway.

hm.. there are debs for QtSixA...

that errors are because of missing libraries (libusb-de, libbluetooth-dev, etc)

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

ok so i'm having issues getting the bluetooth to work. everything works fine when connected with USB. i used the sixpair program to change the master BT addr on the controller, and both qtsixa and hcitool list my controller as connected. the four LEDs on the controller continue to flash.

    kevin@cerberus:~$ hcitool con
    Connections:
    > ACL 00:1E:3D:B9:1B:9D handle 11 state 1 lm MASTER
    qtsixa:
    List of connected devices: 00:1E:3D:B9:1B:9D
    PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller, Joystick, 054c:0268, Bluetooth
but I have no joystick (js0) in folder /dev/input/ like I do when I connect via USB. After connecting via USB and seeing everything works fine, I unplug the cable expecting it to switch to bluetooth mode. Looking at /var/log/syslog, I see this:

Jul 6 00:54:21 cerberus NetworkManager: bluez_manager_bdaddr_removed_cb: BT device 00:1E:3D:B9:1B:9D removed
Jul 6 00:54:29 cerberus bluetoothd[2856]: Refusing connection: setup in progress
but hcitool and qtsixa both say 'connected'. any idea? i'm using karmic.

SOLVED: if I run sixad in force mode, bluetooth works fine.

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

    Good news!

The development version has become kinda stable and it's now on QtSixA Lucid PPA.
Intrepid/Jaunty/Karmic users will have v1.2.1 for now, as the bugs get fixed on the new version (1.5.0)

This new version brings many changes, including:
    - Rumble is now supported
    - Every device has it's own configuration now, but will use the default if it's not set-up yet
    - Only bluetooth sixaxis have input profile support (for now)
    - new utility "sixad-jack" which will make your Sixaxis act like a midi-keyboard

Some stuff is not implemented yet though, like auto-disconnect after some time, only 1 QtSixA instance and some other small stuff.

For bugs and requests, please do it in this page:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/qtsixa
Make sure you say what QtSixA version you're using.

Feel free to ask any questions, I should probably make a FAQ soon...

    And enjoy this release!

hm, have you tried the force option?

you can run this in the terminal to get some output:
    Code:
    sixad --stop
    sixad --start
    #press the PS button now
