The partitioning menu *should* have appeared before this. What happens when you press the back button once, or even twice?

Try checking the cd for defects from the opening menu.

when i am clicking the back button a pop up is coming stating
    starting up the partiotner.

this pop up is showing a status bar stating scanning disk.....in this status bar the bar is moving very fast for 50 % and then it stops for a little while and then again i get the same window....means that white window.

Do you know if it is the Live "Desktop" CD version or is it the ALTERNATE "text based" CD version ?

In any case, it sounds as though your problem is that you have failed to designate the "/" system partition as BOOTABLE.

You should make the following 3 partitions:

    / = root, i.e. system partition - make it primary & bootable
/home = , home partition - make it either primary or logical
/swap = swap partition - make it either primary or logical & twice the size of your RAM.

I would use file type as either ext3 or ext4.

    Re: Installation Problem

It would seem that the partitioner is not able to find partitions on your hdd. Have you set them up in advance? Are you running another os?

Can you run from the try ubuntu without installing option?
