Re: error when trying to copy onto an mp3 player
There's a common scam going around with MP3 players and flash drives. There's a way of making a small capacity flash chip believe that it has a much higher capacity. Scammers get a small capacity USB drive or MP3 player (like, a 1 gigabyte) and they modify the chip so it thinks it's a 16 gigabyte chip. Then they sell it as a 16 gigabyte MP3 player.
Of course, the flash chip can only hold 1 gigabyte, not 16, and the result for the end user is similar to what you're reporting.
If the MP3 player is really 2 gigabytes, you could try reformatting it in Gparted. Format it as fat32.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
